Call for government to increase prices as medicine shortages persist, with 247 out of stock across Ireland

Of the medicines currently unavailable, 13 are on the World Medical Organisation’s WHO critical medicines list

Antibiotics such as amoxicillin and penicillin and commonly used over-the-counter medicines are in short supply

Medicine shortages are persisting with 247 products not available in Ireland, according to new research.

Medicines which are currently out of stock in Ireland include a number which use plastic components to store or deliver the products and relate to nasal sprays, inhalers for the treatment of asthma and 11 different eye drop products.
