Bus Éireann management is considering the possibility of placing the company into examinership, with new figures revealing a worsening financial crisis at the beleaguered semi-state company.

The all-out strike by workers at the semi-state body is costing it up to €125,000 per day in fines for non-delivery of services by the National Transport Authority (NTA), which is now pushing it closer to insolvency.
