Bus Éireann has 250 ‘idle’ drivers in nationwide depots

Troubled transport giant Bus Éireann maintains a constant pool of 250 idle drivers in its depots and garages, this newspaper has learned.

The 250 drivers, out of a total driver pool of 1,359, are kept in reserve in garages around the country as part of their normal rostered hours to cover annual leave, sick leave and auxiliary demand.
