Bullied Tusla whistleblower is awarded €12,500
Woman spent five and a half years on administrative leave and suffered mental anguish
A Tusla social worker who made a protected disclosure at a special care unit for children in Dublin – and who was subsequently subjected to a campaign of bullying by some of her colleagues – has been awarded compensation of €12,500.
The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found that Tusla’s good faith efforts to protect the woman had the inadvertent effect of penalising her for having passed on complaints by two children who felt they had been mistreated.
