Broadband plan ‘won’t mean cuts or tax hikes’, says government

The National Broadband Plan (NBP) will cost taxpayers almost €800 million over the next three years, but will be delivered without any tax hikes or spending cuts, according to government.

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) was named as the preferred bidder for the controversial NBP last month. US businessmen David McCourt, the head of Granahan McCourt, and Walter Scott Jr are the ultimate owners of NBI.
