British charities regulator launches probe into Console

Watchdog carrying out assessment of the London-based arm of charity

The charities regulator in Britain has launched a preliminary investigation into the British arm of Console, over concerns about alleged financial irregularities at the suicide charity.

A spokesperson for the Charity Commission watchdog confirmed it was carrying out an assessment of the London-based charity following media reports about the conduct of founder and chief executive Paul Kelly. Following an initial review, the regulator will decide whether it is necessary to take further action.
