Brexit: motorists may need ‘green card’ to drive in North
The European Commission is holding off on making a change which would avoid two million Irish motorists needing a ‘green card’ to prove they are insured to drive in the North after Brexit.
It has the power under the motor insurance directive to exempt drivers from outside the EU from the requirement to carry an international insurance cert – known as a green card. This has already been done for drivers from Serbia and Switzerland.
