Bord na Mona planning toxic waste dump in Kildare

Semi-state company is looking to dump 85,000 tons of hazardous waste a year

Bord na Móna is to go ahead with a plan to develop a hazardous waste dump in north Kildare despite the concerns of Kildare County Council.

The semi-state body wants to expand the capacity of its waste facility in Drehid to allow it to accept up to 85,000 tons of hazardous waste a year, and recently got permission from An Bord Pleanála to bypass the local council and apply directly for planning permission.
