BoI in frame to buy Danske Bank loans

Bank of Ireland is circling the loans of more than 4,000 small and medium-sized businesses being auctioned by the Danish lender Danske Bank.

Ireland’s largest bank, which is still 14 per cent owned by the Irish government, is one of a small number of bidders for the SME portfolio to have made the second round of bidding. The remaining bidders on the shortlist are international private equity firms.
