Former taoiseach Bertie Ahern has described the journalist Veronica Guerin. who was murdered 20 years ago today, as someone who would never “get scared and run away”.
Ahern knew Guerin because they had both lived in Artane in Dublin in the 1970s, and she was a very active member of Ogra, Fianna Fáil’s youth wing. He also regularly met her while he was a government minister.
