Bar Council shores up €1m hole in staff pension scheme

The Bar Council has moved to fill a hole in its pension scheme of close to €1 million, following a Labour Court decision.

The deficit, a result of “prevailing economic conditions” according to the council’s 2017 annual report, was originally tagged at €4.4 million last year, placing a significant risk on the organisation.
