Non-disclosure of ‘expensive’ cars becoming an issue

The state’s bankruptcy tsar has been given the power to access the car ownership database after applicants concealed details of “very expensive” cars.

Under the rules, bankruptcy applicants are not allowed to keep any car worth more than €6,000 when they are declared bankrupt.

There have also been cases of vehicles being transferred to other family members without permission.
