Athlone becomes first town in Ireland with all-electric bus service

Transport officials are planning similar initiatives in Dublin

Athlone’s town bus service is to become Ireland’s first all-electric bus service, the government has announced.

Operated by Bus Éireann, the national bus company, the service will officially begin operation on January 29. Works to make the bus fleet 100 per cent electric began last year.
