Amnesty International has taken legal action against a retired Irish barrister to require him to remove the word Amnesty from a fundraising programme he founded.

The human rights non-governmental organisation said it was with a “heavy heart” that it filed legal proceedings against Bill Shipsey, who founded Art for Amnesty, a global artist engagement and fundraising programme that was previously affiliated with Amnesty International.
