Eir today launched a first-of-its-kind WiFi network at Croke Park's events centre, a move that will mean up to 26,000 patrons will have access to high-density coverage at the All-Ireland football final.

The network primarily operates across the stadium's meeting and events facilities, but also supports stadium operations on match days.

The operations teams at the stadium will use the network for ticketing and other services, whilst corporate and premium-level clients can also use the service.

With the system, the first high-density WiFi network deployed in Ireland, Eir said they can now offer organisers and delegates "the best WiFi coverage in Ireland", with "uncongested internet access" and high download and upload speeds.

Eir's chief commercial officer, Eavann Murphy, said the move was a "game-changer", and a "big plus" for the events centre.

GAA commercial & stadium director, Peter McKenna, said that the offering acts as a differentiator when the centre is compared to similar facilities. "We are now in a position to deliver internet connectivity and services to our clients that we were not in a position to deliver previously", he said.
