AIB U-turns on plan to make 70 branches cashless after ‘public unease’
Bank had earlier been rebuked by Taoiseach Micheál Martin for the decision
AIB has U-turned on its decision to withdraw cash services from 70 of its 170 branches around Ireland following intense political pressure including a public rebuke from Taoiseach Micheál Martin.
In a statement today the bank said it had decided not to proceed with the proposed changes “recognising the customer and public unease” the move had caused.
