Abbey’s collaborations take centre stage

The Abbey Theatre is coming under scrutiny from the Arts Council over the number of productions it is staging in association with other theatre companies.

Since Neil Murray and Graham McLaren took over as directors of the Abbey in 2016, practitioners have raised concerns that the national theatre is absorbing funding granted to other Irish theatre companies by producing a large number of collaborative shows.
