Alter Pharmaceutical to expand at new headquarters in Balbriggan

Pharmaceutical group Alter Pharma has announced plans to add 80 new jobs in Ireland after inaugurating a new headquarters for its worldwide operations in Balbriggan, Co Dublin today.

The expansion will bring the company's Irish workforce to 120 by 2018. Founded in 2010, Alter Pharma has five companies based in Ireland – Generic Specialty Pharma (GSP), Generic Pharma International, Steac Pharmaceuticals, Beta Active PI Pharma and Novalus Healthcare.

“Opening our new €5 million euro facility underlines our commitment to Ireland and will allow for our rapid expansion plans. We look forward to continuing to grow our excellent team here to complement our product portfolio,” said Alter chief executive Pierter Van Rompay. IDA Ireland helped the company in its initial move to Ireland.

IDA chief Martin Shanahan saidgeneric pharmaceuticals were contributing significantly tooverall employment in the sector.

Alter Pharma develops and manufactures generic pharmaceutical drugs in a range of areas such as oncology, cardiology and central nervous system disorders.

The company is currently recruiting a number of positions, in all areas including research and development, regulatory, supply chain, warehouse and quality.
