Most of 221 CervicalCheck women now cancer free

Many suffered gruelling treatment regimes and were left with difficult side effects

The vast majority of women affected by the CervicalCheck controversy are now cancer free, new data shows.

The data, which was compiled by the HSE at the request of campaigners, shows that at least 75 per cent of the 221 women affected (more than 165 women) were diagnosed at stage 2 or earlier and have no evidence of active disease.
