CSO figures show annual price rises accelerated to 7.2 per cent in August

Figures from the Central Statistics Office today provide a snapshot ofthe property market in August.

They show that residential property prices rose at an annual rate of 7.2 per cent in August, an acceleration from July’s 6.7 per cent and the fastest pace since March. Prices in August rose by 1.6 per cent from July.

CSO figures will be closely watched in the coming months to see if the Government’shelp-to-buy scheme for first-time buyers, announced in the Budget, will have any upward impact on prices.
