US presidential election: 9 weeks out, the candidates prepare to debate

The first debate of the contest will be held three weeks from today, writes Siobhán Brett

Clinton will be significantly increasing the number of public appearances made in a bid to quickly undo some of this slippage; either she or one of Bernie Sanders, Bill Clinton, Tim Kaine, her running mate, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden will make an appearance each day this month.

Sooner or later, everything will need to be laid out in quite minute detail by both candidates.
