US jobs figures are weakest in almost six years

A report has shown that the US economy added fewer jobs than forecast in May, diminishing

the Federal Reserve’s case to raise interest rates as soon as this month.

The Labor Department said the US created 38,000 jobs last month, compared with the 160,000 median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists. It was the lowest figure in almost six years.
