Official figures show that UK retail sales began the second quarter of this year with more momentum the economists had forecast.
The Office for National Statistics said the volume of goods sold in stores and online rose 1.3 per cent in April from March, more than double the 0.6 per cent increase forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists.
Food sales rose 0.1 per cent and non-food sales grew 2.5 per cent, with all categories showing increases....
