Tycoon O’Brien is major backer of Palestinian movie

Telecoms mogul Denis O’Brien has emerged as a major backer of a documentary film about instability in Palestine which was screened in Dublin last week.

The film, Open Bethlehem, details the return of the filmmaker to her hometown and the erection of a wall around the city by the Israeli military. It was made in 2007 by director Leila Sansour.

Sansour told The Sunday Business Post that she first met Denis O’Brien in 2007 when she was giving a public address in the Palestinian territories which the billionaire businessman attended.
