Two-letter domain names open to registration from today

Businesses with abbreviated names will battle to snap up short-form online identity

Two-letter .ie domains, such as aa.ie and hp.ie, can be registered from this morning by anyone with a related registered trademark.

The IE Domain Registry said the registration period, also known as the sunrise phase, will run from today to midnight on 16 December.

Once the deadline passes, two-letter domains which have only been applied for by a single party will be registered immediately, while two-letter domains with interest from multiple applicants will go...
