TV3 owner Malone eyes UTV Ireland takeover

Liberty expected to join forces with TV3 if deal goes ahead

Liberty Global, the US cable giant owned by Irish American media tycoon John Malone, is eyeing a possible takeover of UTV Ireland.

If the deal goes ahead, Liberty is expected to combine the station with TV3, Ireland’s biggest commercial station.

Virgin Media Ireland, a subsidiary of Liberty Global, acquired TV3 for €80 million in December.
