US President Barack Obama has said Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump is "unfit to serve" as president.

Speaking at a White House news conference, Obama challenged congressional Republicans who have criticised Trump to disavow his candidacy, noting that they have maintained their endorsements even after "repeated denunciations" of his remarks.
