‘Triple pension’ teachers to pay back €2.8m

102 teachers had been receiving pension overpayments for up to four years.

Hundreds of teachers who were claiming “triple pensions” have now agreed to repay the state.

The teachers had retired early and were given a supplementary pension to top up their regular teaching pension until they qualified for the state pension several years later.

But when they eventually got the state pension, they continued to claim the supplementary pension and their teacher’s pension as well.
