Toyota banned from using 'best built cars in the world' ad line

Ad standards authority forbids appeal despite independent expert validation of brand's claim

Toyota Ireland has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority from using the Best Built Cars in the World ad line.

The move comes despite the claim's substantiation by an industry expert commissioned by the ASAI themselves.

Volkswagen subsequently withdrew the complaint in late 2015. There were also a very small number of individual consumer complaints.
