Time running out on tax avoidance deal

Just 18 taxpayers have so far availed of an opportunity to minimise penalties for tax avoidance transactions, writes Emma Kennedy.

Taxpayers who engaged in tax avoidance transactions on, or before, October 23 have just over two weeks left to settle with the taxman under the Revenue Commissioner’s current disclosure scheme.

In January, the Revenue Commissioners published details for tax practitioners of how the settlement opportunity will work and guidance to taxpayers on how to settle.
