Star Wars awakens pre-bookings boost for cinemas with movie hype

Some chains have already seen a €150,000 boost in sales so far

Irish cinemas are already profiting from Star Wars as pre-bookings for the much-hyped latest film in the franchise have given some chains a €150,000 boost in sales so far.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opening on Thursday, December 17, is breaking ticket sale records across the globe with US investment firm FBR & Co projecting the film will make $2.5 billion at the box office globally.
