Secret presidential poll puts Seán Gallagher close on Higgins’s heels

Seán Gallagher would be the closest challenger to Michael D Higgins in a presidential election, according to a secret poll carried out by supporters of the businessman.

The opinion poll, details of which are known to The Sunday Business Post, sets up the prospect of a repeat of the 2011 election where Gallagher almost pipped Higgins to the presidency.
