Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden have concluded a three-day official visit to Ireland, the second such visit in the history of the state. The royal couple were accompanied by representatives from the Swedish government and senior business figures, in an itinerary conceived to highlight the historic and contemporary links between Ireland and Sweden, and to promote bilateral trade.
