Retail sales up by 12.6 per cent in July

Big jump in car sales accounts for boost

The volume of retail sales increased by 12.6 per cent in July when compared with June and there was an increase of 6.3 per cent in the annual figure.

The sectors with the largest monthly decreases were clothing, footwear and textiles which were down 2.5 per cent.

Other retail sales are down 2.4 per cent and food, beverages and tobacco are down 0.9 per cent.
