Simon Coveney: efforts to tame out-of-control rental market

Minister for Housing,Simon Coveney, declared at the launch of his rental strategy last week that he was putting a bridle on a horse that has been effectively out of control for the last two years.

His predecessor Alan Kelly was similarly hopeful that his two-year rent freeze would work – yet rents have continued to rise as more tenants face their annual reviews.

But what Coveney certainly achieved was to rein in Fianna Fáil....
