Rail passengers wealthier than those who go by bus

Rail passengers are much wealthier than those who travel on public buses, according to a new government study.

It comes at a time when the number of passengers on inter-city, Dart and Luas services is expected to reach an all-time high of around 92 million this year.

Economists working for the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service found that the median income of rail passengers was €41,700, compared with €27,400 for bus passengers. The median income...
