Racing Post deal goes to competition body

Private equity group seeking to buy business from Irish owners

The proposed acquisition of the company which owns the Racing Post newspaper has been referred to the Irish competition authorities.

A notice on the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission's website said the deadline for submissions on the deal was July 27.

If approved, the deal would see the Racing Post, the horse-racing industry bible, sold on by its Irish owners for a substantial profit less than two years after the title’s €180m debt was bought back...
