US cable giant Liberty Global is expected to put in a bid for UTV Ireland as early as next week.

According to informed sources, Liberty Global is anxious to get the deal done as soon as possible, as it hopes to transfer Coronation Street and Emmerdale, two soaps that attract huge audiences, back to TV3 in time for its new year schedule in January.
