Last Thursday afternoon, the animal nutrition giant Alltech announced that its founder and chairman Dr Pearse Lyons had died at the age of 73. Within minutes, the tributes were flowing for the Irish-born, Kentucky-based scientist, philanthropist and entrepreneur.
