Parkrun faces financial charge as local authority imposes fee

Founder begins campaign to keep event free to all participants

The founder of the hugely successful parkrun movement has appealed for help in the campaign to save it as a free event.

The weekly, free, timed five kilometre run in public parks has been a huge success since its foundation in 2004.

This morning founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE appealed to adherents for help in keeping the event free.
