Outlook for Irish banks positive for 2016: Fitch

The outlook for Irish banks is positive for 2016 according to ratings agency Fitch.

Fitch based its analysis on the on-going improvements in the banks' asset quality, business prospects, profitability and capitalisation, it said in a report.

Those improvements “partly mitigates the high proportion of problem loans (including either non-performing or low-yielding loans as well as forborne, restructured, impaired or defaulted) still on these banks' balance sheets,” it said.
