Lucy Gaffney, a close associate of businessman Denis O'Brien, has stepped down from the board of Independent News & Media.

In a statement after the stock market closed, the company said her resignation was effective from today but didn't disclose a reason for her exit.

Gaffney is chairman of Communicorp, O’Brien’s radio group that controls Today FM and Newstalk. She is also a director of Digicel and most of the billionaire tycoon’s other investments....
