There were more than 2.5 million taxed vehicles on Irish roads last year, an increase of 2.2 per cent on 2014, new figures show.
The data, released by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, shows there were more than 1.98 million private cars, a rise of 2.1 per cent on the previous year, as well as 330,541 goods vehicles, 82,046 tractors and 36,974 motorcycles. The number of new vehicles licensed rose by 31 per cent to 153,850.
