Number of new cars licensed in November jumps nearly 28%

Volkswagen remained the most popular make of car despite the company's recent woes

There was a jump of nearly 28 per cent in the number of new private cars licensed in November compared with the same period last year, the Central Statistics Office said.

A total of 1,874 cars were licensed, up 27.9 per cent, while the number of news goods vehicles licensed rose by 30.2 per cent to 1,314.

In the first 11 months of the year, the number of new private cars licensed was 31.5 per cent above the year-earlier period at 120,263.
