‘Not a sausage in the bank’: How it all unravelled at Edenmore Farm Meats

A series of emails filed in the High Court by the liquidator of the controversial Donegal-based abattoir business reveal details of what transpired before the company ceased trading in 2016

In May 2016, an email pinged from Robert Daly, then a director of a soon-to-collapse abattoir business in Co Donegal, to Robert Burke, his colleague at the time.

“No bounced cheques today 🙂,” the email read. Despite the use of a happy face emoji, Edenmore Farm Meats ceased trading a few months after this message, allegedly owing millions of euro to farmers and other creditors.
