New twist in Abbey tale with €1.5m Nama deal

Former director Mac Conghail offered the sum to Nama to acquire Eden House in July 2011

The Abbey plot thickens: it has emerged Fiach Mac Conghail, the then director of the national theatre, made an offer of €1.5 million to acquire Eden House from the National Asset Management Agency in July 2011, in an off-market deal that is now being probed by the Public Accounts Committee.

The sale of the strategically located site in Dublin city centre was only completed 13 months later, but Nama accepted the Abbey’s first offer for it....
