New chief executive for Hibernia College

Hibernia College, the Irish online third-level institution, has appointed veteran education leader David Carpenter as its chief executive alongside founder and president Dr Sean Rowland.

Rowland, who was named Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008, told The Sunday Business Post that the appointment was part of Hibernia’s expansion strategy in Ireland and overseas.

Carpenter was previously the chief executive of the ECDL Foundation, a certifying authority for computer skills, which he expanded from Ireland into 140 countries.
