National Gallery plans to extend collection’s reach

The National Gallery of Ireland is planning to display some of its vast collection of paintings outside Dublin to improve its reach beyond the capital.

The gallery has a collection of over 16,000 works, including high-profile ones from Monet, Picasso, Vermeer, Caravaggio, Goya, Turner and Velazquez, but less than a fifth of its collection is on display at any one time.
