Motorsport tycoon Martin Birrane has died

Birrane, the owner of Mondello Park, resurrected Lola Cars in the late 1990s

Martin Birrane, the Irish motorsport tycoon, has passed away suddenly at the age of 82.

Birrane resurrected Lola Cars in the late 1990s, and was also the owner of Mondello Park in Kildare.

Having left school in Ballina at 17 and spent stints working in hotel management in Geneva and for the Canadian ambassador in Turkey, as well as in show business in Britain, Birrane recently spent his time between homes in Spain, London and Dublin....
