Mortgage war looms as AIB poised to lower variable rate again

Senior sources reveal bank set to bring rate down to around 3 per cent

AIB is set to bring its standard variable interest rate down again by the end of the summer, sparking a war between mortgage providers.

Senior banking industry sources told The Sunday Business Post that the bank would bring the rate down to about 3 per cent as it looks to grab market share. The sources said the reduction could come by September.
